For many people experiencing homelessness, their pet is not "just a dog" or "just a cat." They are family. They are a source of unconditional love, emotional support, protection, companionship, and often the only reason someone continues fighting through another difficult day.

Unfortunately, many traditional shelters do not allow pets. Faced with the impossible choice of surrendering a beloved companion or sleeping outside together, many choose to remain on the streets.

We understand that choice.

And we refuse to judge it.

Instead, we meet people exactly where they are—with compassion, respect, and practical help.

Keeping Families Together

Our mission is simple: keep people and their pets together whenever safely possible.

The bond between a person and their animal can be life-changing. That relationship provides stability, hope, purpose, and unconditional love during life's hardest moments. Preserving that bond not only protects the animal—it often helps protect the person as well.

When we help one, we help both.

What We Do

Pay It Fur-Ward® provides direct, hands-on assistance to people experiencing homelessness, housing instability, financial hardship, medical crises, and other difficult life circumstances.

Depending on each person's needs, assistance may include:

• Emergency hotel placements and temporary shelter

• Pet food and human food

• Veterinary care and emergency medical assistance for pets

• Vaccinations, preventative care, and spay/neuter assistance

• Transportation to veterinary appointments, medical appointments, shelters, and services

• Hygiene supplies and basic necessities

• Winter survival gear, cooling supplies, and weather-related emergency assistance

• Pet supplies including leashes, collars, harnesses, crates, bowls, and bedding

• Assistance replacing identification, obtaining resources, and navigating community services

• Connections to addiction recovery, mental health resources, medical care, veteran services, domestic violence resources, and other support agencies

• Long-term advocacy and individualized case management

• Disaster preparedness and emergency evacuations for both people and their pets

Every situation is different.

There is no one-size-fits-all solution, which is why we take the time to know each individual, understand their circumstances, and work alongside them to create a path toward stability.

We've watched people overcome addiction, reunite with family, secure employment, obtain permanent housing, and rebuild their lives—all while never having to say goodbye to the pets who stood beside them through it all.
